Well if that ever happens, the tell tale sign will be the enormous amount of video projection equipment in the area. There isn't a way to create a "stand alone" version of a hologram. What you didn't see in that video is all of the equipment about the size of a house doing all the digitization and video processing to render a "life like" image in holographic space.
Ohh and I forgot to mention, they can only produce said holograms at night. Another sign it's a Hologram. They haven't figured out a way to do it in broad day light. I doubt there is a way in the foreseeable future. Reason being is that sunlight has all the colors, and for all intents and purposes can outshine anything we can produce. It's like trying to project the color red in holographic space, within in a "white" light. Unless you can over power and separate the color it isn't going to project.
