Presidents
The constitution requires candidates for President to be 'natural born'. This phrase at the time it was written ment without religious or state sanction.
Society labels this state with a slang word beginning with B, ending with D and having ASTAR sandwiched between. B is Birth. D is death and A STAR happens between the two.
To properly fill the office of President a bastard is needed. I am guessing that whoever created this concept must have read or been influenced by Gibbons DECLINE AND FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE first published in 1776. The analogy between Caesar and President are clear but Gibbons leaves us with the impression that Caesar is the highest office in the Empire. It is not. Caesar was simply the front man for the Emperor. If anyone was going to be poisoned the Romans wanted that man to be Caesar and not Emperor. And the same reasoning holds for the U.S. The Presidential office is a sacrificial one. Less clear is who holds himself as number One.
