My helmet only works if 75% of bicyclists wear them.

Well over 90 percent of the people Hitler locked up were German's. Only 2 to 3 percent were Jews and most of those Jews were elevated to running the concentration camps.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_behavior
In 1971, in the oft cited article "Geometry For The Selfish Herd", evolutionary biologist W. D. Hamilton asserted that each individual group member reduces the danger to itself by moving as close as possible to the center of the fleeing group. Thus the herd appears as a unit in moving together, but its function emerges from the uncoordinated behavior of self-serving individuals.
Missing the old 'normal' herd's virtue signalling. At least helmets work and won't by themselves kill or maim!

Even worse, when predators have dominant control of the herd, the mechanism of virtue signalling apparently becomes direct projective denial of non-virtuous behaviour on groups and individuals the predators fear.

TYT was 'best' at this. Noticing more and more of the TYT type of reporting insanity in CNN and MSNBC 'journalists' this year.

    I like this hat more.

“Democracy is also a form of worship. It is the worship of Jackals by Jackasses. It is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
    H.L. Mencken

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
