The fight against Squamous Cell Carcinoma was a tough fight we ultimately lost. But if I had to do that battle over again, I'd do some things differently. I hope this might help anyone doing research against this deadly cancer.
The three treatments that we saw the most benefit from were:
1. AstaXanthan - attacked the tumors (valasta.net)
2. Medicinal Mushrooms/Beta Glucan - raised white blood cell counts
3. Vitamin C - kept the cancer localized

I believe we started the astaxanthin supplements too late. By the time it was really kicking in, her body had already began to shut down. This video gives a run down on the treatments we used and what FOR US, worked and didn't work. Every person is different and a choice they will have to make when taking on this fight. What worked for one person may not work for another.
In providing this video, I am hoping to help others see what worked and didn't work for us. That way they can weigh the options and come up with the best plan for their own fight.

I have switched from black pepper to Indian long pepper (piper longum). I like the taste better and long pepper is vastly superior as medicine, including anti-cancer:

I ordered some. I don't like taking anything in a pill form but it sounds like this can be used as a condiment as you state above.

A 248-page report, "The Health Benefits of Citrus Fruits," released December 2003 by Australian research group, CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research), reviews 48 studies that show a diet high in citrus fruit provides a statistically significant protective effect against some types of cancer, plus another 21 studies showing a non-significant trend towards protection.

Citrus appears to offer the most significant protection against esophageal, oro-phayngeal/laryngeal (mouth, larynx and pharynx), and stomach cancers. For these cancers, studies showed risk reductions of 40-50%. (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=37)
