Of all the futuristic maps I've seen and read about the map concerning the Great Lakes seems the most probable, given the tectonics and history of major quakes in middle America. From what I understand such an event would split the US into 3-4 distinct areas.

In order for continental North America to split into regions seperated by water America, Canada and Mexico will have to drop to sea level. Iowa alone will need to free fall between 1670 and 480 feet for this to happen. And at that its at sea level. You need to go further than that to have any standing water.
Not going to happen considering something as big as North America is going to have to be pushed up......................beleive what you want!

Well-that would certainly solve the current drought problem in Nevada. And I will have one hell of a bunch of waterfront property. Works for me.
