I am usually a skeptic on many "cures" but this is a true personal testimony.
Earlier this winter I started getting cold symptoms of sore throat, stuffed nose, headache, aches, etc. So right away I diced up 2 garlic cloves and swallowed them with water. Later that day I could tell it was better, next morning symptoms had got lots better so I took 2 more garlic and did the same. By that night all symptoms were gone accept my nose was running a little.
Just day before yesterday I was coming down with a really bad one, bad headache, really bad sore throat & really hard to swallow, ears really hurting and a headache. I had 7 of my grandchildren under age 7 staying with me and I could not get sick, so I did the garlic again just 2 days and today it is gone. I have a very light headache but I really am attributing it to 7 small children for 5 days. Small house, lotsa noise playing:)
The only thing about garlic is according to my husband it smells so badly. When I take it he has to sleep somewhere else or I do. He also claims he has to wear shaving lotion on his mustache to help the odor throughout the house. I don't know cause I don't smell anything...
Just wanted to share cause I am a total believer after this happening twice in a row.

Garlic is an anti-inflammatory so it makes sense that it would reduce symptoms (which are inflammatory). I take lots of garlic and vitamin D if I start to get sick.

Thanks RR, I will have to try that next time I feel a cold coming on, seems as thought the little one gets a cold/ or a snot nose once a month, with all those little germs factories she goes to school with.

I do that too. Two cloves of garlic and extra vitamin D for two days stops a cold every
time. Garlic is a wonderful thing, its an antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antiparasitic
and may protect against cancer.

OoooH I love me some gahh-lic toooo ! I purposely eat LOTS extra just to keep my husband away from me. I sometimes even chew on it e-x-t-r-a long too for the full aromatic effect. ;)
Heehee. Anyhoo, kids....they won't take it so u gotta do whatchoo gotta do.........
It gets into their bloodstream if you put it on their feet !
crush a few garlic cloves, put them in a little jar or bowl, and cover it in olive oil.
In about a half hour, rub the oil on their feet.
Then heavy socks & off to bed.
If you seriously don't want to offend your husband & don't want to stink to high heaven,
you can put a drop or 2 of peppermint oil on your tongue to get rid of the smell or
put a couple drops of peppermint oil in water & use it as a mouthwash & rinse away.
I prefer to stink. ;)

LOL, OHL... I love your avatar!! I chuckle each time I see it.
The stink of the garlic is worth the laugh I get each time watching my husband react. I laugh and laugh at him and he keeps telling me it isn't funny, then he laughs a little too. He believes it now after watching me get well in 2 days, but I really will wonder next time he gets a cold if he will just suffer the cold or take some garlic, I almost would bet a couple silver dollars that he will suffer the cold. But if he reads this and thinks I will bet some silver, he may eat the garlic!! Silver talks....

gotta ask: & what do the kids smell like the next day? Does it come through their pores & reek of garlic/sending friends & teachers away?

No, never had a problem with it being that bad because it wasn't actually eaten. However, they will still get a little garlic taste in their mouth.
I put a couple drops of the oil in my kid's ears also at the first sign of infection, too.
It gets rid of the infection FAST or stops an ear ache from turning into a bad infection.
Put cotton in ear to keep it from seeping out. It has NEVER EVER failed , not even once.
Doctors -be-gone! Poof ! Every other kid at school is taking the antibiotics for their ear infections CONSTANTLY. I mean CONSTANTLY.
Ruptured ear drums, hearing loss, the whole nine yards. If they could have just tried a little garlic oil, if only.
My heart breaks for them.
My kid begs me for her to take her friends some "schtuff" to make them better.
I'm always afraid she's gonna steal/sneak something from around here & put in her backpack & take it to school. I swear to God.
I have to put everything up cause even a little kid knows how well it works.
ETA... she would get suspended/kicked OUT for doing such !

If I were you I think I would experiment at home during the weekend. Give em some Friday evening and Saturday evening, I am sure by Monday it would be gone. Then you will know, otherwise warn the teacher!
