Just don't eat wheat. The GMO wheat that exists today isn't fit for human consumption.

Tapioca is a much better alternative.

To me this Glutten movement is very sudden. Was I chronically ill my whole like? I don't think so. Do I eat bread daily? Yes I do. So why is glutten become this toxic thing the last couple years? Is it something they have just started adding or did I miss something?

GMO wheat has not been released for public use yet. It exists in a lab where it will stay until it is profitable for Monsanto et al to put it on the market.

Wheat has long been recognized as a crop that would not get much "benefit" from GMO. It is planted solid stand and thus shades out most weeds and the ones it doesn't shade out are easily controlled by rotation or primative herbicides. Insect pressure is rare. Most of the diseases common to wheat are typically minor and if they have a bad outbreak, can be controlled with a traditional fungicide. There is nothing about GMO traits that a farmer would pay more for in his seed wheat.

Edit: Sorry, this was horseshoe3 writing. I didn't realize sugar plum was logged in instead of me.

I thought GMO wheat was only in the research phase? I agree though, gluten should be avoided. It's really tough though.

ETA: I just read the post above. I should have read it before posting!

Go without gluten for a few weeks. If you have a gluten problems, alot of times you will have a belly ache when you finally eat something with gluten.

The wheat in our daily bread today is not the same wheat of a little over 50 years ago. It is a hybrid that attains only half the height of those old film and photo scenes showing "amber waves of grain."

Wheat has been genetically morphed into a high glycemic index (GI) food that spikes your blood sugar as bad as or worse than sugar. This morphing was done over decades of cross breeding compatible plants, not by laboratory GMO freaks.

Even worse than its high GI is the fact that those wheat kernels and other grains contain a type of protein called gluten. It's a sticky sort of protein that's useful for binding.

According to naturopath Glen Depke, it appears that the old wheat was three percent gluten, and now it is 50 percent. This hybrid was created to make better textured breads and pastries and produce a higher crop yield.

Monsanto did GMO wheat back when Wonder Bread first came out. They needed a special wheat that had like a super gluten then would make factory made bread lasts for weeks. This made fresh made bread go out of style. Most people buy this cheap factory made bread now. The new GMO wheat is everywhere now and it's what's mainly causing the issue. In other words, most wheat is contaminated now and wheat is mostly toxic for everyone. Some of the high end stuff from Italy or France might be safe, but I wouldn't risk it personally.

I still believe grains aren't good in general, and should be avoided, but I hope that adds some clarity.

It took me 4 months for my gluten symptoms to go away after stopping the wheat. You'll notice a major difference and lose a ton of weight too.

It took me about 4 to 6 months for things like the Non Alcholic Fatty Liver, dry skin, rosacea, migraines, loss of taste ect to stop begin so bad. I ate a piece of zucchini bread (made with wheat) after being wheat free for 2.5 months and it put my gut in alot of pain for about 30 hours. The pain was bad enough to make me think twice about sneaking something with wheat in it. Before that , I had no clue that I had a gluten problem. I have a neighbor who has Raynalds (no circulation to the fingers) and Fibromyalgia. About two weeks ago, she stopped eating wheat and can already tell a difference , a big step for her was, she could roll over in bed by herself.

Thanks. you guys have given me something to investigate. Bread and grains are a big part of the daily diet. I do get very strong discomfort after eating my meals but for me that has been fairly recent. Maybe the past 2 years but really the last 18months that I recall. It starts about 1 1/2 hours after I eat.

I remember Wonder Bread. It was called Wonder White here and was sold as a high fibre bread.

I listen to most of David Duke's 5x weekly podcasts, and one of his big issues on the health front has been wheat consumption = bad. I think it was a show this past week, they mentioned sometime in the '50s or '60s farmers made a big conversion to dwarf-(something)-wheat. Not sure what the status of GMO wheat is. Anyhow check his health pages (http://www.davidduke.com/?cat=320) for many articles like:

LOL I started eating wheat again a few months ago after abstaining for around five years. Nothing bad happened, and now I feel silly for restricting it after all these years. Since most foods are now so low-quality I'd be leery of eliminating anything that I didn't have an allergy to.

On a related note my friend's kid had to go to urgent care a few times due to severe constipation and general stomach problems.

She spent a lot of money getting her tested for nutritional deficiencies and it turned out she was low in zinc (despite eating an organic whole food diet). She took a lot of it for a while and now can eat anything she wants including gluten. So if you have stomach issues you may want to supplement and see if it helps.
