i killed 2 red squirrels and i don't have a small game license. i was in my woods behind my house hunting them because my mom is a single mother raising me and she doesnt have a job right now and we had been eating beans for a week now and i figured i would try to get a couple of squirrels so we would atleast have some kind of meat. i know it was wrong but if you have ever been very poor you know how bad it can be. my neighbor called the police on me because he thinks my family is trash and the cop asked if i killed the 2 squrriels i had and i said yes so he called the game warden and i have court next month. im 17 so i hope they will go easy on me. but my question is there anyway i can get my rifle back its been in my family since 1970 and it's my only way to hunt i was saving my money to get a hunting license but when you cant afford food its hard to save money. and do you all think i will go to jail/ juvenile?

They guy will be ok if he can keep his mom out of the courtroom. He is below the age of majority and is unable to engage in contractual behavior. When the parent or guardian appears then the situation can get serious.

Two important points.

1) What kind of neighbor reports a starving family trying to survive?

2) What kind of POS game warden would actually site this kid, and take his gun away?

What a sad story man. My heart goes out to that family.

Aren't those the same 2 Red Squirrels that were destroying your property and you had to kill then to prevent further damage ?
