Your immune system is actually right in your stomach and your intestines. Just a little bit of the right strains of bacteria can protect us against foreign invaders. It’s perhaps the most important intervention that we can do to preserve our health and our longevity. However, most of the commercially available probiotics are dairy-derived, and don't work as well as you think.

Some probiotic strains. You want the ones of human origin as much as possible since they colonize in your system:

Dairy Origin:

Lactobacillus acidophilus Rosell-52
Lactobacillus casei Rosell-215
Lactobacillus paracasei Lpc-37
Lactobacillus rhamnosus Rosell-11
Lactococcus lactis Rosell-1058
Bifidobacterium bifidum Rosell-175

Human Origin:

Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM®
Lactobacillus acidophilus UBLA 34
Bifidobacterium bifidum Bb-02
Bifidobacterium bifidum Rosell-71
Bifidobacterium breve Rosell-70
Bifidobacterium breve UBBBr-01
Bifidobacterium infantis Rosell-33
Bifidobacterium infantis UBBI-01
Bifidobacterium lactis Bi-07
Bifidobacterium lactis Bl-04
Bifidobacterium longum UBBL 64

that is correct. Most of them are dead before you imbibe them. Important to get some that are well cared for and comprehensive cultures. By well cared for I mean refrigerated correctly until sold.

More complicated than that.

I copy and pasted the YouTube description. The background information is that many auto-immune disorders are linked to poor digestion. I think the wording of the sentence is misleading to someone who doesn't know that. I probably shouldn't have copy and pasted that.

I started taking human derived probiotics for a few months and have had a lot of positive results. So I wanted to share.

I know. But it's a good place to start discussion.

When someone wants to quit allopathic medicine and start using alternative medicine I always suggest they get their digestive system in order first.

Culturelle

This one is available in many grocery stores and pharmacies. Downside is it only has one strain of bacteria, but it's very effective.

Another one I know of is Theralac.

Children's version, it's just a powder you can mix into cool food/drink. This seems to be a good value.

Adult capsule version:

Theralac proudly advertises they use 5 human strains of probiotics. I can't find any other over the counter probiotic that does this. I can only find this brand online though.

I haven't tried the adult version of Theralac yet, but it looks very promising. I went for the child version since I could easily control and incrementally increase the amount I wanted since it was a powder. It is also designed to be hypoallergenic and drops the dairy additives.
