I'm sorry. I thought this thread was about ancient Greece.
And, to my knowledge, the aforementioned Mysteries were pretty much THE most important thing in Greek life for at least 2000 years. I did not mean to derail your thread or anything; I'm genuinely interested in your opinion. It has been mentioned fondly by many, many great Greeks. I'd say it's "solid" enough.

As for the Mysteries, I have no agenda; I think the "Initiates" tripped balls, probably off some ergot-based, LSD-related compound that was contained in the kykeon that was drunk by the participants.
I wasn't around in ancient Greece, but LSD and other psychedelics can produce mystical experiences. For sure!
