I would like to have several sturdy wooden compost bins.
Do you have a vegetable garden, ximmy?
My mom does, my parents are retired and live at my house... we are kind of learning the basics together... in case the SHTF... Right now she buys fertilizer... I want to get her a green house with raised beds and learn composting and such.
It's a dream right now though... I'm working full time.
Thanks for your response, that sounds like a wonderful dream.
The raised beds are surprisingly easy and cheap to make. I also would like to have a greenhouse. As soon as I can locate the charger to my video camera and learn how to upload a video onto YouTube I will post it here. I think it's in a box in the garage.

I apologize, k-os. I was referring to the pic with you and Heimdhal and another member at the Appleseed? event you were at. Reading it again I can see it was an unfortunate remark. I was trying to make a lighthearted quip but it was ill-advised. Not the first time for me, I'm sure. :(

Hi Ken
When we built, he thought about all that kind of stuff, it is all metal building, metal roof, 13' tall attic 8 " perimeter walls, used R-30 in attic and walls. No nothing for cooling never gets over 75/ 77. Funny huh as we are heating and AC contractors

Zap, next time you feel a cold or other sickness coming on you might try this:
Take a scorching hot bath. Start a hot bath, but cool enough that you can get in it. Then fill it with the hottest water you can stand; the boiling a frog idea. This seems to replicate the bodies' natural fever response to an invading organism. My husband and I have done that for years. We have found that usually if we do this before the sickness fully sets in that our bodies fight it and they win! Hope you are feeling better. :)

Took the RV to the keys this past week for mini lobster season for her maiden voyage. Driving it next to large trucks towing large boats was scary, and I white-knuckled it quite a bit of the way. The next day my hands hurt.
Drank a lot, ate a lot, got a lot of sun, and had a lot of fun. 15 friends and I plus 4 large dogs stayed in a house meant for 8 people and 1 dog. I am so glad it wasn't my name on the rental agreement. The owner showed up one morning, and demanded that we narrow it down to 8 and 1, so my two friends and I surrendered our spots, hoping that others would follow our example. We even took three of the dogs with us home in the RV, but even as we pulled away, they were all arguing over who stays at the big house on the water with the pool and the boat, and who goes to a hotel 20 miles away. Friendships may have been damaged or lost over that decision.
We were sad when we left, but at least the group caught 38 lobsters the day before and had a major feast. Yummy!

what if roaches were a foot long...
I guess it depends on what kind of roach it is.
;D
It also depends on where the roaches live. If the roaches live in Washington DC, then they are much bigger than a foot and they tend to make life worse for the rest of the U.S. citizens. I think that I heard of a roach named Pelosi that crawled all the way from California to Washington DC and as she made her long trek towards DC, roach Pelosi kept getting bigger and bigger. By the time that she made it to DC, she was a morbidly obese roach. I guess it is safe to say that over-eating on taxpayer dollars tends to make certain political roaches fat and they only get fatter each day they stay in Washington DC.

I went to Barnes and Noble today and bought three hard back books. 2 of them or fiction and the third one is a non-fiction book. The non-fiction book that I bought is called "CrashProof 2.0" by Peter Schiff. I sometimes listen to his podcast called "Wall Street Unspun". I always had an interest in listening to him. It's an electric fly swatter that is battery powered. I just swing at them and electrify the m-fers. I have nothing against flies, but mosquitoes can really put a damper on a summer evening at my house.
I am not sure how I managed to shock myself, because my finger wasn't even on the button at the time, but still, lesson learned.

Unfortunately, I do not have many friends locally. Bummer..........
I read Schiff's first book but it will be a while until start reading Schiff's second book because I am currently reading a Stephen King novel called "Under The Dome". That novel is a very long novel (1060+ pages) and I am only on page 180. I have not spent much time each night reading it because I have been spending a lot of time on the internet posting on GSUS, CoinTalk, and Collectors Universe. I will spend more time reading "Under the Dome" because it is really a good read.

I recently started getting back into cooking (iwas a Chef during college) and have never done what i could consider a great barb que rib, sure ive done many kabobs and tried doing ribs many a times but never did i do something id call "Right".
Well i did some research and low and behold it hit me while a read it "A Rub" shit,so i lathered them ribs up and applied that rub for 9 hours, then it said "use only one part of the barbeque, use the other with a pan of vinegar" so i did.
Then it said "Keep the temp at 160 to 180,do not put sauce on it" so i did.
Then it said "Apply sauce, move the ribs above the vinegar pan on otherside of barbque" so i did.
Then it said "Apply sauce with care, move ribs in tinfoil" ok so i did.
Then it said "Its done shithead" ok so i brought it into the kitchen and it was great.

I cannot get it because I do not have the full cable TV package. Honestly, I do not have much to watch on TV because I have what it is called "Limited Basic". Basically that means that I only get a total about 12 channels. That does not bother me because I either 1.) spend a majority of time posting on CoinTalk and on GSUS or 2.) I am reading a novel.

True Dental Insurance only allows you 1 -1.5k a year for caps, root canals etc. These socalled "Dental Plans" say that you get a 25% discount. But the doc just raises the price 25% so he still gets his. any or most dentists will ask you upfront if you have a dental plan. If so he will point out the discount. If you say no he will tell you that he is doing you a favow and will reduce the price 25%.

I'm still feeling a bit tired after waking up about two hours ago.
Do not sleep your life away. It is hard (if not impossible) to prep for SHTF if you are sleeping all of the time. ;D ;D ;D
I'll certainly take note of this...

I found two ticks today on my little boy and my big girl (dogs). >:(
Just something I'll have to check for now that I am out of mostly tick-free South Florida.

I drank a glass of orange juice and ate some left over pepperoni and black olive pizza. It was so good. ;D

I just stuffed my gut with the following:
1.) 2 Bologna and mustard sandwiches
2.) 3 slices of aged swiss cheese
3.) 1 tin of Beach Cliff Sardines in Louisiana Hot Sauce.
4.) 16-oz glass of orange juice.
That was very good and I feel satisfied. :)

I am currently on page 356 (out of 1072) of the Stephen King's novel called "Under The Dome". Did not read much of this novel this week because I have been busy with posting on 3 forums as well as doing other things. I plan to read more of this novel this weekend.

I just returned from San Francisco with my mother and father and we all had a great time window shopping and eating some good Chinese food.

For some reason, I feel very happy tonight despite the doom and gloom that is present on here and elsewhere. I guess I am just "crazy happy".
